“Dark circles and hollowing under the eyes may be an easy giveaway of age.
A deep tear trough can create a shadow that is perceived as a dark circle below the eye. It also creates a
division between the lower eyelid and cheek that is an early sign of aging around the eyes. Patients with
deep tear troughs often complain that they look more tired and older than they really are.
There are many causes of tear trough imperfections. Genetics, lack of sleep, lifestyle and ageing all
contribute to sagging in this area. Sagging can be caused by the loss of facial fat in the under-eye and
cheek area.

Some people are simply born with a shallow bone structure and lack of fat in this area.
Because the skin there is quite thin, it has a tendency to show the effects of ageing sooner than the rest
of the face.

A non surgical approach to tear trough correction involves the injecting of hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers delicately into this depression to alleviate these effects.
